weaving and silver

With just under 3 weeks to go, here are another two of our wonderful designer/makers : )

Sarah Jane Wilson

Sarah Jane Wilson’s distinctive and bold use of colour and weave structures in her one-off designs combine to create highly individual scarves and shawls in merino and silk.
The exclusive fabrics produced by designer-maker Sarah Jane Wilson are handwoven on a traditional floor loom in her studio in Fisherton Mill Gallery, Salisbury.
Inspiration is drawn from nature and landscapes taking often surprising colour combinations and playing with proportions and composition to “paint” with the yarns to
produce each piece.
Cushions, throws and table linen are also available and Sarah offers a bespoke design service to match her products to your own interior scheme or outfit.

You can find out more about Sarah here.

another 2 lovely Handmaders!

Here we are for the next two designer/makers taking part in Handmade, firstly we have,

Sarah Dodd

She graduated in 2010 from Winchester School of Art in BA hons Textiles, Fashion and Fibre, specialising in Textile Art.
She has always had a passionate interest for free hand machine embroidery and for a long time enjoyed making machine embroideries as a hobby. Her main passion in life is being environmentally-friendly, so she endeavours to make her products as eco-friendly as possible, using recycled card, biodegradable packaging, and found and re-used fabric.
She loves making things with fabrics that she finds all over the place, from old clothing to pieces picked up at car boot sales.
Everything is lovingly made by Sarah at her home studio, which is a horders paradise – filled with ribbons, buttons & fabrics galore!
Her designs are inspired by nature & everyday living…

You can find Sarah online on Etsy, Folksy and Lasso the Moon. She also has a Facebook page.

Katie Barrett

She started making her own bath products after getting fed up of paying stupid prices for her addiction to nice smelling things. Now shes not only addicted to using them, but also making them!
She loves making weird and wonderful products- functional doesn’t have to be boring! Everything she sells is suitable for vegetarians, and most items are suitable for vegans too. She tries to stick to all natural ingredients whenever possible and
nothing she sells has been tested on animals (unless you include her boyfriend!). Everything is made fresh and packaged straight away to ensure it stays at maximum stinkyness. All of her products have passed cosmetic safety assessments, and she only uses EU approved ingredients.

You can find her on Folksy.

More sellers profiles coming soon : )

Introducing…

over the next 4 weeks we will be profiling our designers/makers, and today we are introducing the first two,

Nichola Pitt

Nichola is a fibre artist inspired by the natural colours of wool. Each individual breed creates a fleece which has it’s own individual properties and lends itself to a different way of working. She experiments with texture and is fuelled by a love of the natural world. Originally from a ceramics background, her felt making and ceramics have the same prerequisites. That to be truly appreciated they need to be touched.

You can find her work online here, and also on Facebook.

Forever Foxed

Forever Foxed are based in Brighton and create quirky terrier-inspired
cards, badges and gifts.

They love to create fun images based on their own dog, a rescue Welsh Terrier called Noodles, and some of his pals. Proceeds from their Dog on Wheels photo card range are donated to Fox Terrier rescue organisations both in the UK and the USA.

You can find their work in various shops and galleries around the UK,
and through their own website and also through Folksy and
Etsy. They also have a Facebook page.

Watch out for the next two very soon!
